The French International School Georges Pompidou was established in 1973 in the Emirate of Sharjah. During its first 10 years the LFIGP, the corporate school has less than 100 students at all levels.
In the 90s, an annexe is opened in the emirate of Dubai in Oud Metha to be closer to family in Dubai who are more numerous. In 1993-1994, after 20 years, LFIGP has 362 students.
Over the past 10 years, the number of students doubled again to over 2400 children in September 2013, due to the opening of a fourth site adjacent to Secondary School in Academic City. The new elementary school will host approximately 750 students in September 2014 (already over 600 in September 2013). The school Oud Metha has refurbished and now welcomes students from kindergarten of Dubai (375 children).
The pressure resulting from registration applications is very large and directly related to the increase in the French population in Dubai (+10% in 2012). In September 2014, the LFIGP hosts more than 2,600 students.

Our Own English High School, Sharjah was established in 1982. The Boys’ Wing moved to a new campus in September 2007. The year of shifting commemorated the Silver Jubilee of the School. The school is located in the school zone in Muwaileh Area, which is very close to the Sharjah University City. The GEMS Westminster School, Sharjah, a new international school, is based upon the highly successful Westminster School in Dubai.
